PEMF vs Red Light: What’s the Difference?
PEMF and red light are different technologies. PEMF uses pulsed magnetic fields generated by electrical coils, while red light devices emit visible wavelengths of light. Some wellness wearables combine both, but they should not be treated as interchangeable.

What is PEMF?
PEMF stands for pulsed electromagnetic fields. Current moves through one or more coils to produce a magnetic field that changes in controlled pulses. Devices vary substantially, so look for disclosed frequency, field strength, coil position and session guidance.
What is red light technology?
Red light is visible electromagnetic radiation. Consumer wellness devices often describe wavelength in nanometres. A wavelength such as 660 nm identifies the colour of light, but wavelength alone does not describe the complete dose. Irradiance, exposure time, coverage and distance from the skin also matter.
Why are the technologies combined?
A multi-technology wearable can place light, PEMF and sometimes vibration into one routine. Combining technologies does not mean evidence for one automatically proves a claim for the entire product. Each product should be assessed using its own specifications, intended use and instructions.
